Buttery Tomato Sauce

This "wicked easy" tomato sauce has a delicious buttery taste and is quick and easy to make and super versatile!

Equipment

  • 1 sauce pot
  • 1 Immersion Blender (Optional)

Ingredients
  

  • 6 tbsp Butter
  • 1 each Small Onion, diced (about ½ cup)
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes (28 oz.)
  • ¼ tsp Dried Basil
  • ¼ tsp Dried Oregano
  • To Taste Salt & Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter in a medium-sized saucepot. when melted, add in the diced onions and cook until translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Add in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Pour in the can of diced tomatoes and the dried basil and oregano. Season to taste with the salt and pepper and then cook uncovered at a simmer for 30 minutes, stirring periodically.
  • When done, taste and correct the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. You can leave the sauce chunky as it is, or puree until smooth using a food mill, immersion blender or food processor.
