1 saucepan
1 potato masher optional
- 2 lbs Apples - McIntosh, Granny Smith, Fuji, Golden Delicious, etc. (About 6 to 8 apples)
- ¾ cup Water
- ¼ cup Sugar
- ½ tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice
Peel, core, and chop the apples into approximately ½ to 1-inch sized pieces.
Place apples pieces into the saucepan and add the water, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, then let simmer until apples are soft, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Allow apple mixture to cool and then mash with a potato masher or fork until it is the consistency you desire. You can puree in a blender or food processor for a smoother applesauce.
NOTE: Serve applesauce warm or cold; or refrigerate / freeze for later use. Applesauce will stay good refrigerated in an airtight container for up two weeks.
